Wedding attire for men: the ultimate guide to the dress code for the big day

If you are preparing to attend a wedding, you could have a fair few male friends and relatives who are currently doing likewise. After all, they will probably be going to the same ceremony as you — for example, as groomsmen or simply guests.  You might even know the groom personally — but, the bottom line is, if you know any men set to turn up at a wedding, they might need filling in on its dress code. Otherwise, they could commit a faux pas with their choices of attire. So, what exactly would the dress code require? How much can a man really customize their wedding clothing?  Given that there’s easier scope for experimentation with women’s dresses, it shouldn’t surprise that the bride’s outfit “is, in most weddings, the centerpiece of the show”, as Real Men Real Style puts it. However, men can still be creative with their own wedding clothing.  “Find something that’s naturally you and that fits well,” stylist Grant McNamara advises men, adding in further words quoted by the Brides website: “Beyond that, there’s always room to play with the dress code.” So, what are some of the most common dress codes for weddings? White tie: the epitome of formal dress codes “Absolutely wear a tuxedo, with a black or white formal jacket,” McNamara advises for weddings where this particular dress code is specified. “You must also be in a bow tie, though it can be white or black.” While the shoes should be black, patent leather is optional.  Does ‘black tie’ mean back-to-back black?  Not strictly. When printed on a wedding invitation, the phrase ‘black tie required’, ‘black tie requested’ or ‘black tie requested’ calls for a formal outfit but not necessarily a black one. So, men could simply go for something ‘on trend’, like […]

5 Ways to Get the Most Out of Your Outerwear

It seems like outerwear is only viable for a few months out of the year. In warmer climates, you might not get to wear your best outerwear pieces much during the fall and spring, so they’ll sit in storage most of the time. How can you fix this? It turns out that outerwear can be extremely versatile when you try to get the most out of it. Some lighter pieces may even be suited for the warmer months!  Here are some ways you can use your outerwear more often. Think outside the box and use these tips to create a solid style that revolves around your favorite outerwear for women. 1. Don’t Limit Yourself While it may seem like your outerwear pieces are only great for the late fall and winter months, think again. If you’re only trying to fit your outerwear into your wardrobe at these times, you’re limiting yourself. There is so much opportunity to wear your favorite pieces during the rest of the year, too!  You might be able to wear your favorite denim jacket on a night out in the middle of summer, for instance. Spring bonfires are great for knit and crochet pullovers, even if you’ll be staying near the fire. Windy days? Avoid the chill by wearing a light windbreaker. Leave it unzipped to get some airflow so you don’t get too warm.  However you’re wearing your outerwear now, you can expand your options by considering clever ways to incorporate it into your style for every season.  2. Include Outerwear in Your Capsule Wardrobe Some fashionistas love creating capsule wardrobes for certain seasons, moods, or even entire years. Outerwear is sometimes overlooked when creating a capsule, which means you’re missing out on a dozen potential outfits. Expand your capsule capacity just a little bit […]

Forever Fashionable: Luxury Clothing to Invest In

While a wardrobe full of designer pieces is every fashionista’s dream, not all of us have the budget to make it a reality. And while you can pick up some great designer brands over at online outlets. The more affordable option is to choose a combination of high-end staple items and cheaper, well-made basics, particularly if you’re in the process of building a capsule wardrobe.  There’s a number of benefits to luxury items, including quality. Rather than fast-fashion items that look bedraggled after a one or two washes, high-quality pieces tend to be well constructed and designed, holding up through multiple wears and washes. Here’s how to integrate staple pieces from luxury fashion brands into your existing collection so you can mix and match to your heart’s content. Tops Starting from the top, a cotton button-down is one of the most versatile items you can purchase. Cheaper polyester blends tend to become uncomfortably hot come summertime, so choose a 100% cotton version, and opt for a slightly larger size than you would normally buy.  Another investment piece is the silk shirt, ideally in a neutral shade such as ivory. Finally, quality wool sweaters in cashmere, merino or lambswool will keep you cozy through the winter. Choose from a range of neutral shades, or pick from one of your accent colors to help brighten those cold, dark days. Pants Denim is one of the most hardworking fabrics in our closets, with the ability to dress up or down for the occasion as required. Cheap jeans in thinner materials tend to fit awkwardly and develop holes faster than quality brands, necessitating the need for repeat purchases (and in the process, wasted materials). Instead, avoid these and go for a premium pair fitted to your waist and leg length (high-waisted women may find […]

Top 5 Ways to Wear a Chanel Bag According to Celebrities

Chanel handbags are classic, stylish accessories that will never go out of style. Every girl wants to own one of these investment pieces, and the Chanel Classic Flap Bag is well-known in its own right. The key concern is how we will style them. A Chanel bag is more than an accessory; it’s a true designer piece that only requires a blank canvas to shine.  Are you planning a night out with your girls? A denim mini skirt with a white blouse will brighten up your legs; Put on some lovely shoes and hold your Chanel bag. A refined, uncomplicated look that is easy to imitate. It’s simple to put together winter outfits with Chanel purses. Most of their purses have fairly long chain straps. As a result, you can wear them over jackets and puffy winter coats with ease. Leather leggings and sweaters work great with this bag. The jacket’s biker design and shearling detailing are the perfect complements to the bag. Because Chanel bags are so popular and in such high demand, counterfeiters take advantage of the opportunity to create and sell more online, frequently without alerting their customers that they are buying knockoffs. The best approach to avoid becoming trapped in a position like this is to use skilled advisors. If you follow the recommendations provided by LegitGrails, you will be able to spot a fake Chanel bag at home. If you still want to check the item with professionals, you can use their authentication services. Bella Hadid’s Chanel Bag with Jacket and Jeans  Bella Hadid looked glamorous in her leopard print jacket as she stepped out of her car and headed to the celebrity hotspot. She also flaunted her fashion credentials with her off-white Chanel handbag over her shoulder. This is an excellent illustration of how […]

We’re incredibly excited about all the bright colors and trendy prints that will be everywhere this year. Our favorites include Nili Lotan Jackets, bra tops, and color combos.  Check out our list of  the spring of 2022 must-have items below: Oversized Jackets Oversized jackets are just that — oversized jackets! They can be made from any material and color but are typically worn with cropped pants or skirts and wide-legged trousers. I see this look being big for the spring season and maybe even into summer. However, we do have one warning: oversized jackets can go from calm to not-so-cool in a matter of minutes, so make sure you’re pulling it off if you try it out. And as always, make sure your fit is impeccable; otherwise, you might look sloppy or like you raided your dad’s closet. Bra tops! It’s a trend that’s making waves in the fashion community but hasn’t entirely made its way to your closet yet. It’s a bit of an investment, but the way it adds an extra touch of glamor to your structured look is worth it. This spring and summer, you’ll see bra tops alongside blazers and jackets, but it works just as well under sheer shirts and dresses. Bra tops are a little tricky—you have to make sure that […]

Can You Create A Winter Wardrobe With Your Summer Clothes?

Now that winter is rolling around again, it’s time to say goodbye to your summer clothes right…or is it? It doesn’t have to be. When you’re on a budget, you might not have the finances to be able to go and buy new winter clothes all the time, and the same can be said of summer when this comes around. But, this is why we have been thinking about ways that you can create a winter wardrobe using your summer clothes. If you would like to know some of the ways that you can do this, keep reading down below. T-Shirts T-Shirts are a staple in both summer and winter. In the summer they can be used to give you something light to wear so that the sun isn’t too harsh on you. In the winter, they can be used as an extra layer to keep you warm. In the winter, the more fabric you can wear without making yourself look clunky, the better! For example, one of the things that you can do is pair a long-sleeved shirt with a t-shirt over the top. Just make sure that the shirt you are choosing for the bottom isn’t too thick as this will look odd. From there, you can put a jacket over this and you have a stylish look without having to buy anything new.  You can also simply wear t-shirts under sweaters if you think that it’s cold enough outside to warrant this. Of course, the sweater will come from your winter clothes, but the t-shirt provides you with an extra layer of insulation to keep you warm through those cold months. Shorts If you are not ready to retire your shorts for the year just yet, then don’t. There is no need to put them away for […]

This style has often been the choice of the upper echelons of society, including the men from the monarch but today, it has morphed into a trend that many men are keen to try out. When you consider the popular media offerings we all enjoy, you would think of Peaky Blinders, the Crown or even the men in our modern royal family. Wherever you’ve seen them, these garments are often high quality, durable and perfect for colder months when paired with more modern accents. There are a number of manufacturers in the UK that are considered heritage – with Hainsworth, in particular, a company with over 200 years of history supplying the leading brands. The Items Your Wardrobe Needs If you want to ace the heritage look, then there are a number of items that should be in your wardrobe – take a look and then kit yourself out: Woollen Overcoats A coat is a great way to get your new look off the ground and will give you the warmth you need when the weather turns sour. However, if you’re on a budget or don’t want to replace your wardrobe completely, there are several ways to change up your style. By adding a few boho dresses, styling your hair differently or getting a new bag, you can transform your look. Try out these nine ways to revamp your summer style.  1. Change Your Hair Having longer hair in the summer can be irritating, especially if you live in a hot climate. If you want a change, consider going for a cute pixie cut or bob. Keep your hair out of your eyes with a cute bandana, headband or just gel.  If you prefer to keep your hair long, you could consider some temporary dye. There are several conditioners in various colors, from natural brown to hot pink, which give you a new look and keep your hair sleek and healthy. Another option is to simply change the part in your hair. This straightforward technique can completely change your appearance and is easy to do.  3. Festive Pieces To Wear On Christmas Day. No Christmas Jumpers Allowed.

Let’s be honest we’ve been at home waaay too much this year. And we’re getting kinda sick of spending most of our time in loungewear. So, while Christmas isn’t going to be quite the same, we’re definitely taking the opportunity to get glammed to the nines! We’re talking lush velvet, sparkly sequins and blinged out accessories. Hands up if you feel the same? Great. Ok, the question now is; what to wear? Hmm, well, it depends on what you’ve got planned… Staying cosy and warm indoors? Consider a pretty top paired with a metallic pleated skirt or velvet trousers and accessorise with shimmering jewellery. Prefer to grab an al fresco lunch with the fam? Opt for a luxe, jewel toned suit teamed with an eye-catching coat (think Nicole Kidman in The Undoing). Or, perhaps you’ve got an intimate dinner-for-two planned? Then only a gorgeous dress complemented with killer heels will do.  Whatever you decide, make sure it’s eye catching and, of course, fabulous!  Maddie Velvet Puff Sleeve Top, available at Boden Siddal Velvet Trousers, available at Boden Rosebury Velvet Trousers, available at Boden Fendi FF tassel earrings, available at Farfetch Sophie Buhai Everyday pearl 18kt gold-plated earrings available at mytheresa Rita Velvet Midi Dress, available at Boden Charlotte Tie Neck Blouse available at Boden Red Star and Moon Drop Earring, available at Lovisa Kitty Smocked Neck Blouse, available at Boden Kingsley Velvet Jacket, available at Boden Antonia Slingbacks, available at Boden Isabella Top available at Boden Oscar de la Renta Crystal clip-on earrings, available at mytheresa Natalia Slingbacks, available at Boden Cassidy Pleated Skirt, available at Boden Amy Embellished Flat, available at Boden Fenella Midi Dress, available at Boden Jennifer Behr Pluto star drop earrings available at Farfetch Elizabeth Wrap Skirt, available at Boden Hampton Shoe Boots, available at Boden

How to Create a Capsule Wardrobe?

When you look in your closet, do you see hundreds of items but nothing that strikes you? Are you sometimes stuck jamming pieces together that you don’t really like, just to have something to wear? Do you spend what feels like hours rooting through your closet in search of the one thing you want? Capsule wardrobes can be the perfect way to solve these closet problems. A capsule wardrobe is a seasonal selection of favorite clothes that can be worn together in many different combinations. For a no-hassle outfit, all you need to do is mix and match the contents of your capsule. From basic tops to killer dresses, a capsule wardrobe allows you to have it all by having just enough.  A capsule wardrobe can revolutionize your closet through the virtues of simplicity and thriftiness. Here’s a simple 8-step plan to begin your capsule wardrobe project.  1. Clear out your closet.  First, take everything out of your closet. You’re not getting rid of it all, you’re just cutting down what actually lives in your closet to a more manageable selection. Some of it may go back in if it becomes part of your capsule. As for the rest, store it if you can’t bear to part with it or sell/donate it if you can.  2. Choose a base color.  Generally, your base color will be either black or navy. You can use both, but you should generally avoid wearing them together. A good capsule wardrobe is all about maximizing your number of outfit combinations.  3. Grab some neutral color basics.  Next, you’re going to need some flexible, neutral basics that can tie a lot of different outfits together. Many of these will be black or navy, depending on which you picked in the last step. The rest will be […]

Founded in 1856 by Thomas Burberry, who wanted to create outdoor clothing that could withstand Britain’s climate, Burberry began with a durable waterproof coat. Utilizing leather, the Burberry overcoat was adapted to satisfy the needs of the military who wore Burberry’s famous trench coat during the First World War. By 1955, Burberry’s ecological apparatus, which exhibited what Gentleman’s Gazette alludes to as the brand ‘s incredible Novacek plaid configuration, was given a high accreditation by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II for delivering weatherproof coats. Famed for its conspicuous plaid print, Burberry has become a household name and is possibly one of the most famous brands to date. Consistently churning out quality collections, the label is synonymous with sophistication, timelessness and most importantly luxury. However, this hasn’t always been the case. For a period of time Burberry wasn’t viewed as luxurious. It wasn’t until 1997 that Burberry was restored back to being a luxury fashion house. And thus would go on to become a force to be reckoned with, within the fashion industry. So how has Burberry become so successful? Is it down to it’s exciting and long history? Or perhaps it’s the brands ability to always be at the cutting-edge of design? Whatever the explanation, Burberry has proved itself to be a brand with a lot of courage. It’s created wearable products throughout the decades that have now become must-have staples. From its humble beginnings to its current status as a strong brand, what even Burberry enthusiasts must acknowledge is the determination of the founder himself.  Thomas Burberry was just twenty one when he started the brand, which would even now, be considered very young. Born in 1835 to a dad whom was a food […]

The Spring/Summer 2020 Fashion Trends We’ll Be Wearing

Yes, we’ve had an onslaught of storms. Yes, the rainfall seems like it’s never-ending. And yes, it’s bitterly cold…BUT, we’ve spied some daffodils starting to bloom. Which is one of the best telltale signs that spring is on its way. And while Fashion Week is in full swing and providing us with inspiration for autumn/winter 2020, naturally we’re still in the process of planning our wardrobes for spring.  So what can we expect for the new season ahead? Well, we have the usual floral prints to contend with. Obvious, but worth mentioning anyway. And thanks to designers including Balmain, Maison Margiela, and Dries Van Noten, polka dots are going to be everywhere, along with feminine tailoring, embroidery designs, exaggerated collars, bucket hats, and crochet to name a few.  Now, while there are some trends we’ll be steering clear of because let’s face it, we’re not supermodels and can’t pull off everything. Sigh. There are certain trends that we wouldn’t forgive ourselves for not trying. Ahead, we highlight the spring trends we’ll be wearing along with must-have pieces to complete the look.  WAISTCOATS  You’d be forgiven if every time you pictured a waistcoat you immediately thought of Kate Moss circa mid-2000s, in her famous signature shorts and knee-high boots. And while designers such as Anthony Vaccarello did send models down the catwalk in gorgeous tiny waistcoats, thankfully other versions of the waistcoat included a more grown-up, looser style as seen specifically at Armani and Hermes.  We11done wool-blend blazer available at Net-A-Porter  Double-breasted gilet available at Mango NEON 80’s trends always make a comeback every season in some shape or form. This spring/summer it’s back in full force in the way of fluorescent hues.  Vibrant, attention-grabbing, and fun, whether it’s a flirty lime green dress as seen at Valentino or head-to-toe electric […]

5 Apparel Brands You’ve Never Heard Of

Even the most diehard fashionistas out there can become a little jaded when they are faced with the same rotation of apparel brands season after season. Sometimes, it feels like all brands are blending together, each just rehashing what their predecessor has done. But, once in a while, you will find a new fashion label that really catches your eye. These moments always remind me why I got into fashion in the first place: to express myself and have fun doing it! And there is nothing like finding an underground or relatively unknown fashion brand to share with your friends. It’s quite special to know you are wearing a piece from a brand on the rise, and you are helping them spread the word from the ground up.  To help you catch a glimpse of that fleeting euphoria again, here are 5 apparel brands you’ve never heard of. 28 Grams Apparel When it comes to “high fashion,” you won’t get any higher than 28 Grams Apparel. Starting off this list is a brand with a sense of humor, both about themselves and their customers. 28 Grams Apparel is the king of self-proclaimed “party shirts.” If you are looking to have a good time with fashion in something comfy and casual, you can’t go wrong with the tops, t-shirts, and sweatshirts available through 28 Grams. Customers have noted that the designs don’t fade or crack even with multiple washes, like screen prints are known to do. Chrome Industries Chrome is a brand which focuses heavily on practical, city-friendly streetwear. They take seriously the construction of their apparel and the durability of their bags. In fact, their messenger bags are their greatest claim to underground fame: they say that it is the only bag you’ll ever need. You can even get them […]

Fashion and Style Trends: Winter 2019

It’s crazy to think that 2019 is already coming to its last quarter, but fashionistas everywhere are gearing up for one of the biggest times of year in terms of trends. Fall and winter styles are some of the most exciting because of their layers, colors, and versatility. So, what are some of the biggest fashion and style trends of this winter? And where can you easily find more affordable dupes? 1. Combat boots Bring back your dark black under eyeliner, because the punk rock look is back — particularly with your shoes. Abby Sciuto (NCIS) would be proud as this trend heats up with more and more fans of doc martens emerge. Sitting at just around $140, a classic pair of Docs might be a bit out of budget for most trend-followers. If that’s the case, no worries. Tons of stores, such as Target, are adding their version of the boot to their lineup for just around $30. 2. Small bags The worst nightmare for boyfriends and husbands alike, women are starting to carry smaller bags (AKA they can no longer hold things for their significant others). In fact, it looks like these new, trending purses could only fit a few credit cards at most. Starting with Simon Porte Jacquemus, we’re guessing that the miniature bag style won’t last for long. However, if you want to grab one while it’s still in-style, be sure not to spend too much. You can find a great dupe from Pretty Little Things for less than $30.  3. Gold  As with many other ‘90s trends, gold is coming back into style. From clothing to accessories, we saw gold cover this New York Fashion Week’s runways. And what’s a better time to add this gorgeous neutral to your wardrobe than fall?  If you’re really […]

Tips for Planning the Perfect Spring Wedding in the South

The blooming cherry trees and magnolias, the warm and mild weather and the lush greenery make springtime the perfect time of year for a Southern wedding. It’s for these reasons and many others that spring is the most popular season for weddings in the South, with a large chunk of weddings below the Mason-Dixon line taking place between April and June. If you’ve chosen this timeframe for your Southern nuptials, you’ve got plenty to look forward to. But there are a few things you need to know before you book that plantation, barn, garden, winery or orchard for your dream Southern wedding. Here are a few of our very best tips. The Weather: A Safe Bet, But Preparation Is Key Spring weather in the South is one of the primary reasons why brides and grooms choose it as the ideal season to say “I do.” With temperatures lingering comfortably in the 70s and 80s, this time of year provides a much-needed respite from the sweltering heat that blankets the region in July, August and September. Here are some things to know about the weather: It May Still Be Hot—The fact of the matter is that springtime is getting hotter and hotter, with above-average temperatures becoming the norm all over the country. Prepare for the worst—that is, temps in the high 80s-plus (Atlanta once posted a record high of 93 degrees in April, remember)—by ensuring that guests have ample shade, water and a comfortable place to cool down. If your wedding day looks like it’s going to be on the hot end, hand out paper fans as favors.   It May Be Rainy—Though mild temperature-wise, the spring does bring a slightly higher risk of rain in the South compared with other times of the year. If you plan to get married […]

Top 6 Fashion Trends that Died in 2018: 6 New Trends That Will Take Their Place

Yet another year comes to an end and with it comes the time to say goodbye to the fashion trends that died in 2018. These fashion trends have experienced momentary stardom. However, they are now on the verge of being replaced by new 2019 fashion trends. Even though these fashion trends are out of style now, that doesn’t mean you need to arrange a fashion garage sale right this moment. As any fashion aficionado knows, what’s considered tacky and outdated now can surely make a dramatic comeback tomorrow. Right from ripped jeans to biker jackets, many thought-to-be-dead trends made multiple comebacks and some like fishnet jeans even overstayed their welcome. Here’s our advice. Instead of selling your outdated fashion stuff, get them professionally cleaned and vacuum-pack them. Unless you own a pair of tight-fitted, leopard-print pants. Those babies need to be burned and buried for good. Therefore, with a heavy heart and an emptier wardrobe, let’s bid these fashion trends a final goodbye. May they rest in peace. Real Fur Coats Who knew real fur would still be around in 2018. Yet somehow real fur coats and other fur-made fashion items survived the relentless demonstrations by PETA and animal lovers up until this year. So, what changed in 2018 that made this fashion trend go kaput. Well, the biggest setback for the pro-fur movement was the fact that many fashion labels announced their intent to go fur-free. Right from Versace and Gucci to Michael Kors decided that making fashion wear with real fur is not worth the negative press. With luxury fashion brands going anti-fur, the Paris Fashion Week this year showcased a slim selection of fur-made fashion wear. In fact, it’s safe to assume that Paris Fashion Week next year is going to be completely fur-free. Another win for […]

2018 Men’s Shirt Trends for Every Occasion

For a lot of men, shirts are a fashion staple. Even those guys who prefer to dress in a T-shirt and jeans will occasionally need or want to wear a shirt. So, naturally, the majority of retailers stock a huge range. For example, this year, jacamo.co.uk is offering its customers a staggering choice of 300+ short-sleeve shirts. Most stores try their best to cater to every taste, but, each season new trends emerge. Top casual shirt trends for 2018 For example, when it comes to casual shirts, stripes rule the day. Specifically, vertical stripes in the Breton style. For a lot of men, this is the new go-to pattern.  It is a good option for most occasions, but mixing stripes is something that definitely needs to be avoided. Wearing two or three striped garments together just creates a discordant look. Right now, short sleeves are very much in, especially in countries like the UK, which is experiencing an unusually hot summer. Although choosing a long-sleeved shirt, in a lightweight fabric and rolling up the sleeves also seems to be quite popular. Men’s 2018 holiday shirt trends For your vacation, a beach party or barbecue get together, short-sleeved casual shirts with a bold print are a great option. We are not talking brightly colored Hawaiian shirts here. Rather shirts that feature an interesting, bold pattern, which is a mix of only two, maybe three, colors. This style of shirt looks great worn with shorts or cotton trousers but do not work at all with joggers. You can wear them buttoned up or open. If your gym routine has been a bit hit and miss lately, wearing one open over a t-shirt is a good fix. Shirts that work for the tonal dressing trend Tonal dressing, which you can find out about […]

5 Trends That Will Dominate This Summer

There are few things in life that are certain, but one guarantee is that style trends are going to change by the year. What may have been hot last year certainly isn’t necessarily going to be this time around – and as the title may have suggested to you, this is what today’s guide is all about. As such, before you hit the shops in Covent Garden or the shopping destination of your choice, sit back and read on to find five trends that are going to dominate female fashion over the coming summer months. The return of the trench coat For those of you who attended any of the runway shows this year, you’ll have been expecting this first trend more than any other. Trench coats were huge at the industry events, but fortunately they come in so many styles that there is at least going to be some variety on the streets. For example, some women will be perfectly fine with the traditional trench coat. At the same time, others might attempt something a little more ambitious; with one event showcasing a style which saw two trench coats merged together; in completely different styles. Primary colors are back with a bang For years we have been talking about pastel colors, and how these were donning the runways for event after event. Well, now seems to be a time for change, with primary colors making a reappearance. This time, the runways are full of bold colors like strong reds, carnation pinks and vibrant yellows. These colors were prevalent on blazers, dresses and trousers, and it worked a treat in all cases. You need to walk with texture This is a trend that seems to flirt in and out of the industry. At the moment, it’s firmly in, with a lot of designers injecting […]

You can see why people wouldn’t exactly know what these mean. You may easily find yourself causing damage towards your clothes, if you were to iron your shirt for the evening, but found you used a higher setting than needed, it may cause damage towards your shirt. From the survey, people admitted they either threw away or simply never worn an item of clothing because they’d washed it incorrectly or damaged it. Other responses indicated people only knew 3 or 4 symbols, the rest are confusing as the pictures don’t correspond with what they mean. Mix and match: The best ways to stretch your wardrobe

Sometimes, buying a whole new seasonal wardrobe just isn’t possible, whether it’s because you don’t have the funds or the time to scour the high street for what’s on trend. This is why it pays to mix and match with a few statement pieces to really stretch that wardrobe. Unsure how to go about doing this? Here’s are some of the best ways: Buy into basics Basic t-shirts, jeans and jackets are easy to throw on and evergreen pieces will never look off trend. Look for plain oversized t-shirts and pair one of these with skinny jeans and high tops for simple casual style, a simple skater dress and heels works for nights out or even days spent in the office. Opt for easy to style colours such as black, khaki, white and navy to ensure that wardrobe can stretch as far as possible. Stock investment pieces Your outerwear should make an impression and that’s why it’s a good idea to invest in one of the hottest women’s summer jackets this season. This means making your choice from embroidered denim, quilted bombers and smart trench coats and pairing these with the basics of your choice. One great jacket can truly make a whole wardrobe and is a key piece to base whole outfits from, making it super easy to stretch what clothes you already have. The right shoes They say shoes make an outfit, so opt for a pair that go with everything and you’re set for the months ahead. In the summer, a simple pair of flat sandals that don’t kill your feet are ideal while in the winter ankle boots go with everything and can even be pulled out once autumn rolls around. Dabble in last season It’s so easy to adopt a piece that was huge last […]

Men’s Fall Fashion Trends

September is upon us and the temperature has dropped considerably, which officially means that autumn is here. With autumn comes an inevitable style transition and new trends to follow. We’ve teamed up with Trendhim to talk you through some key autumn trends and how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe. Orange Bright orange is the colour of the moment right now. Whether you choose to channel it through a double tracksuit and give a nod to the sportswear trend, or simply wear an orange beanie hat or scarf, this is one trend to not miss out on. Sportswear Sportswear is the trend that just won’t seem to die, and for good reason! Super comfortable and easy to style means that streetwear styles like luxe tracksuits and hoodies are still dominating men’s fashion, for inspiration look to Tommy Hilfiger and Supreme. Varsity styles are also coming back into style this season so head to your local vintage shop to get your hands on some college apparel t-shirts. Whilst we’re on the topic of vintage, 90’s sportswear like zip-up Adidas waterproofs are also great pieces to get your hands on.   Earth tones Looking back at the catwalks of London, New York, Paris and Milan from earlier this year, it was clear to see the dominance of earthly tones such as khaki, browns, camels and mustard yellows. Pantone, the authority in colour, also named their colour of the year as a shade named ‘Greenery’, showing just how popular and influential these colours have proved to be in 2017.   This is such an easy trend to follow as the colours are so easy to wear and versatile. Some great pieces to wear include camel and Burberry-esque trench coats, deep brown leather bracelets and hunter green sweatshirts. Military In a slight continuation […]

The Hair and Beauty Trends We’re Loving

It’s the yearly internal struggle – as seasons change from that carefree-and-golden summer into fall, what looks will carry me through into the cooler weather in style? Be sure to set your scarves and coats off with a few of our AW17 hair and beauty tips. Vamp it up Break away from the balayage and highlights of summertime and embrace your dark side. If your hair is naturally dark, jet black hair makes for a striking – but subtle – adjustment that will zing against your skin tone and frame your face.  For fair skinned girls, this is a bold look which will accentuate your lightness to give a ‘pale and interesting’ demeanor, so don’t forget to take your eyebrows a few shades darker to keep it looking natural. You can also lift your skin with a bright red or pink cheek and lip color, as we think the combination will make your eyes pop against the stark color contrast. Hair experts Schwarzkopf have laid out some useful advice for adventurous home hair-colorers about working with black hair dye. Rose-tinted spectacles If the vampish look isn’t for you, one of the hottest makeup trends gracing every editorial this fall is a classic ‘Renaissance portrait’ rosy-tinted look, characterized by warm peachy-pink natural washes of color on cheeks, eyes and lips, with minimal makeup needed. Be sure to start with a light foundation base for an even complexion that will help you carry off the color washes and keep your lashes and brows as au natural as possible, that’s if you want to be right on trend for this one. The braided bunch Catwalks have been brimming with braids this FW. From chic French braids to Double-Dutch plaiting, braids are back for every length, so give your finger muscles a good stretch […]

8 Versatile Ways To Use Your Lipstick and Lip Gloss

Finding the perfect lipstick or lip gloss can be a really magical moment, but you don’t have to limit the magic to one type of application, or even to just your lips! Let us help you get the maximum use out of your favorite shades of lipstick and lip gloss with our tips and tricks. Trick #1 – Use Your Lipstick Like a Stain What does this mean? It means that you’re going to apply minimal coverage of your favourite lipstick by using your finger to dab it on. This gives you that light “stained” look that’s amazing for daytime. Trick #2 – Put it on Your Cheeks! You heard us right. You don’t have to limit your lipstick to your lips. When you’ve found a lipstick shade that looks great on you, why not use it as a blush too? Just apply your lipstick to the back of your hand and soften/warm it up with your finger, then use that finger to apply it to your cheeks and blend upward. You can set your “blush” with a translucent powder. Trick #3 – Repeat Trick #2…With Gloss Cheeks aren’t just a great place to put your lipstick…you can put your gloss there too! The dewy look is in right now and you can achieve that look inexpensively by using your favorite lip gloss. Just blend your gloss into your cheeks (don’t use too much!) until you’ve achieved the desired effect. Looks great and saves money. Trick #4 – Mix Gloss and Eyeshadow Wanting to add more dimension to your lips? Use a shimmery eyeshadow on the center of your bottom lip and cover with gloss. This is basically like highlighting, but for your lips! You’ll get a pop of shimmer and it even makes your lips look fuller. Trick #5 […]

Romantic Outfits For Cosy Winter Evenings

Winter evenings can be cold, bleak and sometimes rainy; it is too easy to put your romance life on hibernation mode during winter. However, it is important to keep date nights frequent to keep the fire burning between you and your partner, especially or even if you have been together for a long time. As the winter chill grows stronger, an adjustment to our wardrobes is essential. A little extra care to styling your outfits is much needed to avoid looking like Michelin Man or a marshmallow when you start layering your clothes. There are many ways for you to create romantic outfits that are cosy and warm without compromising your feminine, edgy, classic or bohemian style. Cool chic Kendall Jenner is the epitome of cool these days and for good reasons—her off-catwalk looks are relatable and can be recreated. This black-and-white ensemble is chic enough for a dinner at a fancy restaurant but casual enough for a movie after. Layer a bodycon sweater dress under a thin duster coat for the right amount of warmth—finish the look with white trainers and a great classic bag. Black or White If you are not for constrictive dresses, take out your white summer dress (this will brighten up your face) and wear a pair of tights underneath it to keep your legs warm. Slip on a pair of ankle boots and pull on a great trench coat, ala Grace Atwood, before you head out for a romantic dinner with your significant other. If the very idea of pulling anything out of your summer closet puts you off, then go for a leather black coat – pair it with patterned trousers and classic oxford shoes for a chic look! Opposites attract Rach Parcell showed that the juxtaposition of black and pink is beautiful. […]
